Hot Springs, AR

Thank you so much for visiting my Web site.

As you will see from my profile, I’m a “fixer.” When I see something that is broken, I want to get involved in the process of fixing it. Our city government is broken. According to the New York Times 2010 Almanac, Hot Springs is #1 for violent crimes per capita in the United States! This is an alarming report and should demand immediate attention. I strongly believe in community services and prevention programs. Crime, addiction, and child abuse prevention should be top priority. Our dedicated law enforcement, fire, and emergency personnel and city workers should be supported and treated with the highest respect and equipped with the tools to effectively do their jobs. Hot Springs should be diligently promoted as a safe place to live and vacation by promoting the development of family oriented businesses and attractions.

Having talked with many people from all over Hot Springs I discovered that they are sick and tired of the ‘good-ole-boy’ form of government and the harsh, disrespectful manner in which the citizens and other city employees and board members are treated. I share the same concerns as other citizens that our government has made too many decisions behind closed doors and the needs and opinions of the citizens have been disregarded. I believe that people are the greatest asset Hot Springs possesses and their voices should be heard and respected.

After attending and watching numerous City Board meetings, and being totally amazed by the procedure, I made the statement several years ago that “I’m going to run for Mayor!” Now is the time.

This city deserves better! It’s past time for the citizens of Hot Springs to get involved. I am not a politician I am a concerned citizen and firmly believe our city government has been RUTHless long enough! Thank you for your Vote for me, Ruth Carney on November 2, 2010.
